I finally got my hands on The Holy Grail of topcoats: Sèche Vite

Hi,

Sèche Vite topcoat isn't a legend, it really works! Not only does it dry polish quicker than most topcoats, but it really smoothes it out and provides incredible shine.

Apparently it also eliminates the small bubbles that form in many white based polishes, but I haven't experienced that little miracle yet because the polish I used Sèche Vite on today doesn't bubble, thank you Mermaid's tears by OPI.

I hate those bubbles that seem to appear no matter all the techniques I have tried, such as not shaking the bottle of polish but roling it instead, applying thin layers and letting each one dry properly etc.
My next mani will have to be with one of my polishes that I love but that has an uneasy application and tends to emprison those annoying little bubbles: OPI's Mod about you.

I hope Sèche Vite will solve my Mod about you problem... We'll see!

This is actually a pretty old picture (I think I took it during fall or winter) but I love this mani!
I hope you enjoy this.

Nail design 2: Abstract French mani

Hi guys,

Here is another easy nail design with a French twist! Follow the steps if you want to try it out.

1) Place in  front of you everything you will be needing (basecoat, 2 nail polishes of your choice, topcoat, orangewood stick + remover for cleanup)

2) Apply your basecoat and let it dry a few minutes

3) Apply your base color,  2 coats of it, letting each one dry a couple of minutes. I used OPI's beautiful Classic from the Designer Series (OPI DS). I love that color and the holographic effect it has!

4) With the other nail polish you chose for this mani, paint the tip of your nail. You can do it freehanded or use a French manicure stencil sticker, it's up to you and your dexterity!

4) No it's time for some polka dotting!
Place a drop of the polish you chose for your French tip on a sheet of paper, dip your dotting tool in it and start placing dots on your nails. I did 3 dots on each nail (lengthwise) and stopped right above the French tip. The polish I chose is OPI's Mermaid's tears, a beautiful dusty turquoisy-green polish from the Pirates collections. Love that color!

5) Once the polka dots are dry, take the polish you used as a base color and place a drop of it on your sheet of paper. Dip your dotting tool/bobby pin in the drop and place a very small polka dot in the center of the already existing dots on your nails.

6) Apply your topcoat after a couple of minutes of drying time and you are redy to go!

Hope you enjoyed this!

Nail design 1: Polka dots

Hi guys,

Here is an easy nail design you can do with any colors you desire. Just follow the steps and you'll be good to go!

The colors I used are:

Hands:

Base:              China Glaze's Light as air
Polka dots:     Electric pineapple (China Glaze), Secrect-Peri-Wink-Le (China Glaze), OPI's Sparrow me the drama, Nivea's Hot Coral

Feet:

Base:              Hey Sailor (China Glaze)
Polka dots:     Mermaid's tears (OPI), Alpine snow (OPI), Starboard (China Glaze), Electric pineapple (China Glaze)

Follow these easy steps:

1) Prepare everything you will be needing (your basecoat, 3-5 polishes of your choice, a dotting tool or a bobby pin, a topcoat, an orangewood stick + cotton ball + remover for cleanup)

2) Apply a basecoat to your nails, any one will do the job (You can even use your nail hardener as a base, that's what I do with OPI's Nail Envy), and let it dry a couple of minutes.

3) Apply 2 coats of your base color polish, letting each coat dry for a couple of minutes (I used China Glaze's Light as air, a beautiful light lavendar with grey-bluish undertones)

4) Take one of the other polishes you chose for this mani and place a drop of it on a sheet of clean paper. Then, dip your dotting tool (or the rounded off end part of a bobby pin) in the drop of polish and start placing dots on your nails. If the polish on your tool gets thick and goopy, just clean it off with some remover and a tissue. Repeat step 4 with the other colors

5) The polka dots take a few minutes to dry, so you might need to wait a bit before applying your topcoat.

Have fun!

OPI Pirates collection

I know you guys surely already know/own this great OPI collection, but I love it so much and just wanted to share some of my preferred colors with you. Note the matte topcoat (Essence) on Sparrow me the drama and Skull and Glossbones.

Photo 1:   Skull and Glossbones with a matte topcoat (Essence), a beigey grey.

Photo 2:   Sparrow me the drama (a dusty bubblegum pink with lavendar undertones) with a coat of China Glaze's Fairy dust (fine holographic glitter) on my ring finger + matte topcoat

Photo 3:   Stranger tides, a murky light imperial jade green + China Glaze's Fairy dust on ring finger

Photo 4:    Steady as she rose (a light rosy and dusty lavandar with greyish undertones) + OPI Teenage dream (pink metallic base with multicolored and holographic glitter) from the Katy Perry collection.

Photo 5:   Mermaid's tears, a gorgeous turquoisy dusty green with bluish undertones.

Enjoy!

Hi!

Hello to all you makeup and nail polish lovers out there!
I'm back in to makeup and nail polish after a few years of minimal use of both. By minimal I mean neutral nail polishes (nudes, greys, reds and summer time brights) and little makeup (mascara, blush, concealer, gloss). Well things are about to change: I'm back in business and have decided to create this blog in order to share with others my passion, give and get great tips, show you guys some of my nail designs (always on natural nails, my own :)), makeup ideas and creations, and of course I'll be showing you the products I discover, use and love. I'm not really sure at what frequency I'll be posting messages, reviews on various beauty products, makeup and nail design tutorials etc., it will really depend on how much free time I have.
Hope you enjoy my blog!
