China Glaze's Below Deck (#954) + In the City (#990)

Hi!

I hope you all had a nice week. Mine was very busy; so busy that I caught a cold... I hate being sick and having a fever.

For my NOTD, I used two polishes by China Glaze: Below Deck from the Anchors Away collection and In the City from the recently released Fall 2011 Metro collection. I thought these polishes would like nice together as they both have similar tones.

Below Deck is a muted taupish purple with warm gray undertones. The formula was a bit thick but dried evenly with 2 coats. I really like this color and have seen many swatches of it, but it seems to look different on everyone. On me it's more purple than gray and you can't really notice the taupe.

In the City is a clear based fine glitter polish. The glitters are silvery purple and copper but the purple ones are dominant (you can't even notice the copper glitter in the photos). In the City is pretty opaque. I only applied one coat and it pretty much covered the base color. You could probably get an opaque coverage without VNL in 2 coats. I haven't tried this polish on it's own as I layered it over Below Deck on my ring fingers but I'll post a picture of it when I don't wear it over another polish.

To speed up the drying time I used China Glaze's Fast Forward topcoat. It works the same way as Sèche Vite but is thinner and doesn't cause any shrinkage (Yay!). I really dislike it when I spend time doing my nails and end up with the tips of my natural nails showing...

Thanks for reading :)

China Glaze's Sunset sail (#955)

Hi!

For today's NOTD I used China Glaze's Sunset sail (from the 2011 Anchors Away collection), an opaque peachy nude with very discreet silvery white micro shimmer. I tried to capture the shimmer in the photos but it doesn't really show up too well... but believe me it's there!

The formula on this lacquer was rather on the thick side, even after having added a few drops of thinner, but nothing dramatic, I've seen a lot worse! I don't know if it's just my bottle, the hot and sticky weather here or just the formula itself. I will have to swatch this color when it's a bit cooler and I 'll see if it gets any better.

Enjoy!

China Glaze's Starboard

Hi!

For my NOTD I used a beautiful malachite green from China Glaze's 2011 Anchors Away collection: Starboard (#949).

The formula on this polish was good, needing only two thin coats for the color and coverage to be fully opaque. The lacquer dried quickly to a very glossy finish; I did although apply a topcoat (Sèche Vite).

You can see that I smudged the lacquer on my index and middle fingers... That happened as I was picking up my gorgeous malachite stone. I fixed the polish after I took the photos and was too lazy to take more pictures :) so sorry for that!

What types of greens to you go for?

Thanks for reading!

China Glaze's Hey Sailor (#946)

Hi,

I hope you are all having a nice Sunday.

It's raining and gloomy here today, so I decided I needed a bright polish to forget the crappy weather. Didn't feel like wearing a neon or a bright whitish pink, colors I love, but decided to go for a classic true red.

The polish I used, China Glaze's Hey Sailor, is my preferred red, even more than Chanel's Fire, Coromandel and Dragon. When I think of red, this is exactly the shade I visualize. The color on the nails is true to the one seen in the bottle.

The formula on this polish, like most China Glaze's, is a bit streaky for the first coat, but it smoothes down and dries evenly when you apply a second coat of lacquer. The drying time is rather short and the finish is ultra glossy, even before I applied my topcoat (1 coat of Sèche Vite).

What is your most reached for red?

Enjoy!
