OPI's Designer De-Better

Hello Ladies and Gents!

How have you been doing since my last post? I've been pretty busy and just came back from Budapest. I really like that city and had so much fun with my sister there. She lives in London and we met up for a quick trip together. I hadn't seen her since Spring and missed her so much.

Today I'm showing you a polish that you already must have seen but it doesn't matter because it's so pretty and I really wanted to share this beauty with you.

As you know, Designer De-Better, one of the newly released polishes from OPI's Muppets collection, is a platinum polish infused with coppery pink flecks that you can't notice in my pictures but appear like magic in sunlight. Unfortunately we haven't had any sun in Geneva in days so you will have to imagine the pink flecks.

I think I applied 3 coats (but you could get away with 2) followed with INM's Out The Door topcoat.

Having had this polish on for 5 days now, I can tell that it's staying power is amazing. No tip wear or chipping at all; thanks OPI!

What do you think of this beauty? Do you like/dislike it? Has it found a comfy place in your stash or are you still dreaming of it?

Thanks for reading :)

All pictures were taken with my new Canon PowerShot SX220 HS camera, in artificial lighting (natural light lightbulb) and without flash.

OPI's The one that got away (#NL K08)

Hi!

I thought I'd share this gorgeous polish I got a while back and have worn several times already but hadn't swatched yet: OPI's The one that got away (Katy Perry collection).

I absolutely adore this polish. It's formula and color are just pure pefection to me. I'd say it's a deep pomegranate foil type lacquer with magenta and very discreet gold shimmers. The shimmers are rather big and almost look like fine glitters.
Oddly enough, this lacquer reminds me of a pomegranate and plummy version of Chanel's Graphite that I swatched last month.

I applied three coats of color followed by some Sèche Vite to get some extra sparkle but you could get away with 2 and no topcoat; that's how shiny and sparkly it is!

I don't know about you, but I think that Katy Perry's collection was awesome, absolutely awesome! Such a great collaboration. The only one I didn't get was Last Friday Night.

Do you guys like/have this collection? What do you think of it?

Have a nice Sunday!

Chanel's Graphite (#529)

Hi!

I finally got my hands on Graphite!!! Hurray!

I've been waiting for it to be released in Switzerland ever since I started seeing swatches of it on US lacqueristas' blogs in July, month when it hit the US beauty counters. Although I wasn't quite sure about this lacquer when I first saw photos of it, I really wanted to see it in person. Peridot was the one I had my eyes on and I was lucky enough to get it thanks to my mother who was in the States when Chanel released their Fall 2011 makeup look.

Funny thing, last night I dreamt that this polish would be in stores today, and I was right! I love those kind of dreams! I stumbled upon Graphite as I was shopping and couldn't resist trying it on a piece of scotch tape at the Chanel counter. One swatch and I was conquered! This polish is gorgeous!

Graphite is one of those polishes whose color is very difficult to describe. I almost feel like we'd have to invent new words to portray it.
I'd say it's a metallic oxdized silver base with micro gold, green and holographic glitter. Well I can't decide whether it's glitter or shimmer. It almost seems like the base color has some dusty rose and green duochrome going on there. VERY mysterious polish. I'm captivated by it's almost hypnotizing effect!

Like all Chanel lacquers (at least the ones I've tried), Graphite's formula is excellent. Five stars for coverage, consistency, shine and drying time.
Even though this polish is VERY shiny on it's own, I decided to wear a topcoat, just to smooth the rather gritty finish caused by the glitter.

I'll leave my mani like this for a day or two but I'm tempted to layer another polish over it.....(Sigh!) I already have an idea of which lacquer to use and actually have to decide between a few, but am not going to tell you! Surprise surprise :)

The photos don't do this polish justice but I tried my best considering the fact that all my pictures are taken with my phone's camera.

Enjoy!
