OPI's Tickle my France-Y (# NL F16)

Hello polish lovers!

I hope your week started out well. Mine did :)

For my NOTD I wanted something nude-ish with a bit more color. I looked through my collection and hesitated between a few polishes and finally made up my mind for Tickle my Francey, a soft rosewood pink with mauve and fleshy undertones.

I really like this polish. It has the perfect formula which means it isn't too thin or thick, doesn't streak or make any bubbles and dries quickly to an opaque finish. I used three coats because I really dislike VNL but am sure you could get away with two coats.

For my topcoat I used Sèche Vite and am happy to say that there was absolutely no shrinkage! Yay!

Thanks for reading and have a nice Tuesday!

All three pictures were taken in natural daylight (early PM).

  1. Seriously, your collection is outstanding! I'm so impressed with all of your manicures! I loooove painting my nails, but I have very weak nails and have been trying out different polishes to help that. Any suggestions? I'm a Sally Hansen lover, myself, but I am willing to go outside my box :)

Thanks for such an inspiring blog!

  3. @ Merc,

Thanks SO much for your very nice comment. I'm really touched! You made my day! I'm pretty much a novice in this blogging frenzy and it's just great to have such positive feedback, so THANK YOU Merc! Or Merci beaucoup as we say in my part of the world!

I don't really have weak nails and might not be the person to ask regarding that problem, but I can nevertheless recommend OPI's Nail Envy. It worked well when I needed some extra strength, but you must know it contains formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin... Most good nail hardeners contain that molecule as it does wonders in little time but it often causes yellowing.
If not Revlon has a very good formaldehyde free nail care products, such as their Calcium nail hardener and Post Trauma treatment. Both are slightly milky and can be worn alone, the first one being white-ish and the second pink-ish. You can also use them as a base coat instead of your regular base coat. That's what I do. I think they also have a simple nail hardener but I've never tried it. I like Revlon because it's cruelty free, unlike l'Oréal...
Unfortunately I don't know of any Sally Hansen good hardeners as I live in Switzerland, country in which that brand isn't sold...

If not I would definitely invest in a good polish remover. Cheapies often are more harsh on your nails. I like Cutex's removers and use the one with the mauve or green caps (nourrishing formula?).

I hope I was able to help!

  4. @ Beauty on a college budget.

    You are welcome :)

    I'm glad I could help!

I really like this color too and have been wearing it for 2 days straight, which is pretty much a record for me these days :)

The photos are pretty much true to color so you shouldn't really have a surprise when you check Tickle my France-y out.

Let me know if you get it and like it!

  5. I just read your comment and I have to say two days is a long time for me too to have a color on my nails and currently where I live it's quickly become a cool fall so cool, dark colors are in season. I've had a black lacquer polish on for two days and it's still staying well!
I wanted to ask, though, what do you mean by shrinkage? You use that term often but I don't know what it means!

    And thanks for following :)

  6. Hi Merc.

Already Fall where you live? Here it's still pretty much Summer.
By shrinkage I mean that some topcoats actually make your polish shrink, i.e when you apply your polish neatly then apply your topcoat, the lacquer that covers your tips receeds. You cannot really notice this when you are wearing a light polish but it becomes very noticeable with darker hues. Generally the polish receeds on a 1/2-1 mm! It really annoys me!

  7. OMG! That happens to me all the time... I didn't realize that is what it was doing... I notice that when I use different brands together. Thanks for letting me know!
